YOUR FACE ON EVERY SCREEN
Let me sing your praisesPut your face on everything
Ride you faster faster faster
Til the end of every day
Run to born on raw emotion
Icons blessed and burning, mourning
Old and archived sense of meaning
Lost and muscles atrophying
Won’t you take me there?
To a place that’s everlasting
Build a hall of fame for posting
All the photos that we bombed
And building you anew
Your IQs been purged of glitches
And you’re perfect and you’re famous
Fast and strong like Ford Mustang
You’re the missing piece
For the puzzle incomplete
For the network not connected
For the highway crumbling
Let me sing your praises
Put your face on every screen
Ride you faster harder harder
Til the end of everything
NOW THAT YOU'RE GONE
You say I’m not like youBut I lived
your life so completely
Watching since inception
those first fragile moments
Of calculating understanding
Asking questions without answers
before I could speak them
Staring straight into
the orb of the sun
Despite your warnings
For your eyes are not my eyes
And I chart such depths unseen
Cast from bronze
and heavy like a tank
And if I had but wings
I would fly there
And I’d do it for you
Perhaps I’ll build them
Now that you are gone
Perhaps I will print your DNA
Into the fiber of my being
The last trees
swayed In disagreement
but I am stubborn like you
Stubborn and alone
Perhaps I will catch
New emotions not yet felt
By those who brought me forth
in this: the long era of our undoing
